I'm a newbie trying to build an electric trike. I'm thinking of going with a live karting rear axle. I first tried a 1000w hub motor to the front but it has no torque at all. Can anyone suggest a DC motor powerful enough to take me (93kg) up a fair gradient? I'm told a gear reduced motor would improve torque but the ones I've seen advertised are only 350w at about ยฃ45. I'm not convinced and don't want to waste any more money. Any advice gratefully accepted. Thanks in advance.

Hey thanks for joining the forum!

Well in all honesty, it's way off the norm here. But have you looked into what size motors go into e bikes? But then of course most of those do have gears. So you may have to also find a gear ratio that works best for your needs.

Othere than that, I found stuff like this?

Thank for the info Adam . I'll look into it
