Hi,

As its stated 160 and 200. Thats 40cc difference so on a small generator engine that a big difference. Older 160's that have been tuned and could illegal could have issues with reliablity. Saying that the 200 sealed units are having some issues with coil packs. The 200 is made in China under licence for Honda.

Overall the 200 will be quicker and more reliable.

Quick answer - "There's no replacement for displacement...."

In comparison on a track? As my lad was pushing a 200 round on a track with his 160.
Are the sealed 200 @ 8hp?
As my lads 160 is currently 8.20hp

You can't really make that comparison because your son wasn't driving the kart in front. I've finished in front of theoretically quicker motors due to being a better driver ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

As for the bhp readings, that will completely depend on who built it, what dyno they have, atmospheric conditions when the dyno was run etc etc. When racing pro karts there was almost a 1bhp difference in one of our motors when dynoing with different builders with no work done to it.

The track and laptime is where it matters, and the 200s are quicker.

a legal 160 will not be anywhere near a sealed 200, end of story. Look at the laptimes for the circuit and compare to those for similar conditions.

If he's pushing a 2oo around either the 200 engine is down or the driver is not as good.
