"Its up to the northof England for the British Kart Championships this weekend for the 2nd round of the Rotax and Honda Championship. Taking place at Warden Law, the circuit has over 20 years’ experience of providing karting events, however this is the first time the Motorsport UK’s British Kart Championships has competed here in recent history. The 1200 metre circuit is both fast and technical, which will separate the strongest and the bravest from the rest of the field as they race this weekend.

The action kicks off today (Friday, 18th September) with practice sessions, before the racing starts tomorrow (19th September). Sunday will host the remaining heats, pre-finals and finals, before we crown our winners on the podium on Sunday evening.

Many familiar names are returning for this round, including all of last round’s winners; Harry Linden from the Mini Max class, Matthew Easton from the Rotax 177 class, Timo Jungling from Honda Cadet, Archie Walker from Junior Rotax and Morgan Porter from Senior Rotax.

With only 4 points separating Morgan Porter and Tom Edmunds in the current Senior Rotax championship standings, all eyes will be on the class to see if Porter will be victorious again this weekend to extend his lead. Furthermore, the competition is starting to heat up in the Honda Cadet class. Only 6 points separate the top four drivers, with one point separating current championship leader Timo Jungling and 2nd place Connor Duncan. With both drivers looking fast and fearless in the practice sessions today, it’s anyone’s guess who will be crowned the winner during the proceedings at the North-east of England track.

The action will be live streamed on the British Kart Championships Facebook page on Sunday (20th September).

Championship Co-ordinator Danielle Short said, “It’s great to be at Warden Law for the British Kart Championships for the first time. The new, shorter calendar has meant that we have impressive championship fights across all the classes. Winning at Warden Law will see drivers gain the vital points needed to take a lead in the championship. It’s set to be a weekend of great racing and I urge everyone to tune into the live stream to watch the drama unfold!

“The organising team has also worked tirelessly this week to put extra measures in place to ensure the safety of all competitors, officials and staff on site. All attendees must now all wear masks at all times, including within their awnings. We recognise that these revised protocols may seem tough, but as there is currently no cure for the pandemic, we must all work together to prevent its transmission and its impact on our sport.”
