The second running of the Rotax MAX Challenge International Trophy starts next Tuesday (December 8th), as 260 drivers from 35 different nations will head to the Kartódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimao, Portugal for an intensive week of competition to see out the Rotax racing season overseas.
Over 25 British drivers in four classes will be making their way to the 1,531-metre CIK-FIA circuit, which will also host the rescheduled 2020 Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals between January 23rd and 30th 2021, for what will be the fourth time in 21 runnings of the prestigious event in the history of the Grand Finals itself.
The track has its fair share of challenges, with a 160 metre main straight that is ten metres wide, and will provide plenty of challenges for every driver after the first three corners. Having hosted the Grand Finals in 2012, 2015 and 2017, it was the best option amidst the current pandemic situation for promoters 3MK Events on where to host the race week, along with giving people the opportunity to get a good gauge of the track ahead of late January next year.
There will also be live stream coverage of the event itself, live and direct from the track, as the event is being held behind closed doors. We will also give a daily round-up of how the drivers are getting on, so here are some essential links to follow ahead of the week’s action:
