Hi All,
I have recently purchased a 100cc Direct drive kart. It's primarily for my son, wanting to get him into the sport. We are both new to the sport.

Obviously, we can't just rock up at a track, for us, the first step is to get out kart running.

Does anyone know where we can do this? Maybe an open big car park or abandoned airstrip.

Based in Ashford (Surrey)

Hi Hunter,
my son and I had the same dilemma a few months ago, we were new to Karting, had bought some second hand karts with nowhere to drive them.
We approached a friend of mine who had a business with a big carpark, he let us razz around on a few Sundays which helped.
The tracks though are really helpful, if you ring your nearest ones they will advise when their quiet time are so you can have track time with the minimum of stress. We went to Bayford meadow in Kent and virtually had the track to ourselves periodically, also most drivers have been beginners at some point so will give you and your son space.

Hi Mark, Thank you very much for your advice. I need to find an open space somewhere, (that's what I expected)

Once we have it running well we will call our local track, I know my son will be a bit stressed so it will help if there's no one close to him.

Are you looking at Coaching?

I am new to karting as is my 14 year old son, yes we will be getting some coaching from seasoned professionals at some point this spring.
I will gladly share our experiences with you.
