Hi all

Apologies if this has been asked before, but could anyone help with the minimum weight of a Rotax Senior kart (or similar)?

I am looking to purchase one in the near future but the only viable option for transporting is a roof rack - the max roof weight on my Golf GTI is 75kg. I was wondering whether by taking off wheels and bumpers and draining the fuel I could get the weight under 75kg.

Many thanks,
Jack

Hey welcome to the forum!

I weighed my OTK Senior Rotax complete a while back without fuel and battery, it came in at 80kg. Battery will weigh about 2/2.5kg if I remember. And fuel weighs 1kg per litre.

But I wouldn't transport it with the battery or fuel in anyways. I always store my batteries in a box with the charger and my MyChron stuff etc. And I always drain the fuel and clean the carb after each meeting/test.

You can of course loose a bit more taking off the wheels. And then a tad more with the front and rear bumper, but not a lot.

I reckon limits are there to be pushed :p

No worries! You're not loads over the 75kg limit so should be ok tbh, worth a shot! You'll more than likely take the wheels off anyways due the the width, so save some there. Many people transport their Kart on a car/roof rack (y)😁 The rear width will be 1368mm with the rear wheels allll in the way in. Can't remember the length tbh. But I can grab any measurements you want tomorrow!
