I've finally got some time on my hands so I thought I'd at least make a start on a drivers journal.

I've been hooked on karting ever since my old man took me for a look over tilbury...I started indoor karting on my 14th birthday (1998) and raced there - Rayleigh indoor karting for 2 years.

I was bought a 100cc on a Fullerton chassis on my 16th birthday and cracked on with practice days over tilbury for a year or so before saving enough for a Rotax Max. First max was on a CRG chassis but later moved onto a Tonykart Venox. Never done anything but practice days over Tilbury and Rye house, Then done a few IKR rounds at lydd in 2014 before selling up and trying oval racing in mini super two's for a year.

Life took over for a while so all racing had to stop. Managed to scrape a bit together and bought a bare Tonykart evk and over then next year slowly built the kart up using an old pre evo practice engine.

Started practicing again in December 2019 and quickly saw that pre evo was definitely not the way forward so bought an EVO from kevs karts and straight away saw the difference. A few practice days later I thought it was about time to get my licence and put it all to good use.

Thanks for getting involved fella! ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ˜ I missed the banter down our end of the pits last meeting. I found myself down the 'KRM Corner' part annoying @Billywatts and @Gibby ๐Ÿ˜…:sneaky:

I'll get this share on our socials FB/Insta ;)

Great little background story, love it! It seems like quite a lot of us lads have come back after a long break. Guess we'll always have the bug!

Where did you race short oval? My best mate Joe who you met last time races short oval, has done since he was a kid with his old man and brother.

You there next meeting!?

Cheers buddy, I definitely missed the last meeting was sitting on circuit live most of the day!! I'll be back this month for sure!! I think we'll have to move down that end once the winter starts to move in, I can Imagine it gets quite grim down there when the bad weather hits!!

I think that the good thing with the 177s is that you can go back to it after time out, it's great that the class seems to be growing over bayford at the moment. Think I'm gonna need a major chassis and engine upgrade over the winter though as the class gets even more competitive, 2013 chassis and a used parts engine is always gonna lack pace...especially in my hands!!

I raced the ovals at arena essex before it was shut down. It was great fun but it wasn't for me in the end, I think the thing that drew me to it was I've always wanted to go car racing but the funds would never let it happen so it was quite a cheap formula to get into at the time.

Great stuff, look forward to it! That could be true tbf. At some point I want to try and get an awning for the side of the van, get under cover is a must soon I reckon. It's great at the moment though with the kids all playing on the grass etc and no dust!

10 of us I think last meeting, you're right it's great the grid is getting bigger. For sure getting harder to keep up though. We got quicker but it felt like so did everybody else. Engine upgrade will help for sure depending on your current setup. We gained 4 tenths from that current rebuild by Grice, epic! We need to get you in those 48's, get out for some testing soon? ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ

Ahh I miss that place! We all took is for granted when it was open really. Joe and his brother raced Mini stocks and done really well, then moved onto Stockrods (515 and 115). Their old man used to race several Mini's back in the day in Group A Hotrods, then a Nova (112). Simmons is their last name. If I was wasn't Karting as a kid I was usually at Arena with them tbf. They was both racing at Swaffam for a while. Joe's having a break and George has gone Spedeworth!

Simon's mini was probably late 90's? I'll have to ask him. The 2 stock rods are last year.
