KartingForum.co.uk Presents: 'Karting Trolleys & Stands, and which one is best for you?'

Now, one of the many things we all need trackside is a Kart Trolley! A simple bit of kit, but you need to find what Kart Trolley works best for you, your situation and your current setup. Everybody has different needs, what may work for some may not work for others. Get the basics right and buy the correct Kart Trolley for your needs the first time round. Don't be a wolley, buy the right trolley! 😄

Some people need a Kart Trolley which folds up for storage, some people need a Kart Trolley for rough terrain in the paddock, some people need a one man lift Kart Trolley...or a mixture of the lot etc. Let's explore your options and what you can expect from various setups, both feature wise and price. We are going to cover the most popular options you will see trackside, as well as some unique options towards the end of the article.

In regards to the 'generic' Kart Trolley options, you will find most Karting Shops stock them from various different brands. Where as the more unique Kart Trolleys like the 'One Man Lift' designs will be more brand specific in your search to buy one, here in the UK. Lets begin....

'The Three Wheeler Folding Kart Trolley'
Kart Trolley 3 Wheel Folding.png

Now this is a classic Kart Trolley, these used to be everywhere trackside years ago and they are still very popular today due to it's proven design and price. A really robust design that in general just works! They are usually really ridged when folded open giving you confidence is supporting the weight of the Kart. Movability is great, aim the front wheel where you want to head and push with confidence. It can be quite unstable if you come across an incline or hilly terrain, however it's great on gravel or rough ground due to the pneumatic wheels. Nothing much can go wrong with these and for what parts there are, you can easily find replacements. However, these do lack basic features like a brake, storage tray or wheel storage spikes. Scratch protection out the box is usually pretty good with plastic on the support bars and place end stops. Easily folded up and stored out the way, though quite large. A basic Kart Trolley that does a good job for the price!

Our Opinion:
Durability - 9/10
Movability - 9/10
Stability - 6/10
Storage - 1/10
Standard Kart Scratch Protection - 8/10
New Price - £70 - £100
Used Price - £20 - £50

'The Four Wheeler Folding Kart Trolley'

Kart Trolley 4 Wheel Folding.png

Well not a lot more can be said about this Kart Trolley compared to the above really. Slightly bigger in design and less movability due to an extra wheel, however it solves the stability issues we mentioned. If you like the look and feel of the 3 wheeler, but want to trade some movability for some more stability, then this is the Kart Trolley for you! However, quite rare! We have seen a few but not many. Anybody know a store that has stock ready to go, let us know!

Our Opinion:
Durability - 9/10
Movability - 6/10
Stability - 9/10
Storage - 1/10
Standard Kart Scratch Protection - 8/10
New Price - £100 - £150
Used Price - £50 - £80

'The Three Wheeler Non-Folding Kart Trolley'

Kart Trolley 3 Wheel Non_Folding.png

Now I say this is non-folding, it's partly true. No it doesn't fold like the other ones, however you can dismantle the two supports and lay them in the base for better storage. This Kart Trolley is usually a well made unit, however does consist of a few removable parts so bits can get lost or broken compared to other options. Great storage options out the gate with under tray storage, wheel spikes, not to mention loads of places to cable tie various containers where needed. And a nice place in the tray for a cheeky sticker etc. Usually you will find no scratch protection on the support bars and nasty metal hook to grab the chassis. However nothing some tape wont solve. The pneumatic wheels do a great job on gravel or rough ground, no pesky zip tie or stone will stop you moving forward! Movability is great due to the 3 wheel design, just bear in mind you'll lose some stability on a hilly area. Can also be found with a front brake! More of the more popular options out there for sure, it's our 'go to' in the paddock.

Our Opinion:
Durability - 7/10
Movability - 9/10
Stability - 7/10
Storage - 9/10
Standard Kart Scratch Protection - 4/10
New Price - £120 - £180
Used Price - £50 - £80

'The Four Wheeler Non-Folding Kart Trolley'
Kart Trolley 4 Wheel Non_Folding.png

Pretty much the same Kart Trolley as the above, except you'll notice we have an extra wheel at the front. Now an extra wheel is a welcome addition, however you will notice they are small and usually not pneumatic like on the previous example. So you can some stability, lose some movability but now gravel and rough ground is an issue. Remember as a kid whizzing down the road on your scooter or roller blades hitting a small stone the size on an M&M? Yeah, you may find yourself having that issue here to in some cases. However great for some of the more 'posh' tracks in the UK with a nicer paddock or even to push around the workshop. Again, another great Kart Trolley for the money with plenty of features. You need to let the front wheels be a factor in your choice we think.

Our Opinion:
Durability - 7/10
Movability - 5/10
Stability - 6/10
Storage - 9/10
Standard Kart Scratch Protection - 4/10
New Price - £120 - £180
Used Price -£50 - £80

'The One Man Lift Four Wheeled Kart Trolley'

Karting Trolley One Man Lift1.png

One man Kart team? A Dad who needs a helping handing getting the Kart on a Kart Trolley or loading up the van or trailer? You need a 'One Man Lift' Kart Trolley! Now there are various different designs on the market, with a vast selection of features. However, we feel the Stone One Man Kart Trolley is the benchmark in it's field. The four pneumatic wheel design will keep you moving on most surfaces, giving you great stability to boot. This Kart Trolley offers great storage options with the basic plastic tray or a large metal tray upgrade. Operation is really easy and feels secure; lift the loading pedal to tilt the Kart Trolley, lift the front of your Kart up, roll the Kart Trolley in place hooking the Kart to the Trolley, then slowly tilt the kart forward locking it in place. A simple solution for a single person to load a Kart onto a Kart Trolley in a safe manor. This particular Kart Trolley folds up to a decent size, however is more of a pain to store than the rest in general. Durability is decent but bear in mind there is quite a lot of moving parts, clips and plastic bits. Scratch protection out the box is decent with the plastic hooks, however you'll find no protection on the main support bars. A great Kart Trolley all round, the only option if you are by yourself, however it's pricey! We'd love to maybe see a braking system added due to the one person operation. Another worthy note is look out for other brands, there always seems to be more wacky and wild inventions popping up.

Our Opinion:
Durability - 6/10
Movability - 9/10
Stability - 9/10
Storage - 6/10
Standard Kart Scratch Protection - 8/10
New Price - £300 - £400
Used Price - £150 - £200

'The Workshop Horizontal Kart Stand'

Kart Stand Horizontal.png

Not a Kart Trolley but a Kart Stand. This is a very good idea if you want a solid and non-movable working space for your Kart. Maybe in addition to your Kart Trolley, either in the paddock or in the workshop. Not much can go wrong with it, it's as basic as you will get. A Horizontal Kart Stand does exactly what it says in the tin and is always a cheap buy!

Our Opinion:
Durability - 10/10
Movability - 0/10
Stability - 10/10
Storage - 1/10
Standard Kart Scratch Protection - 1/10
New Price - £50 - £120
Used Price - £20 - £50

'The Workshop Vertical Kart Stand'
Kart Stand Vertical.png

Much like the Horizontal Kart Stand, does exactly what you want it to do. A great addition to the workshop to keep your Kart out the way in a semi secure and movable position. No good for constantly moving your Kart from area to area, but great in the correct situation. Be careful of the smaller style wheels as they can get snagged as we said before. Need space in the workshop and/or have multiple Karts? Think about picking one of these up from your local shop. Solving a storage issue for a cheap price.

Our Opinion:
Durability - 9/10
Movability - 5/10
Stability - 5/10
Storage - 8/10
Standard Kart Scratch Protection - 6/10
New Price - £50 - £120
Used Price - £20 - £50

Some good info in here I personally like the 3 wheeled scissor action trolleys as they all stack nicely in the wagon (14) of them haha

Not a fan of the three wheel scissor ones to be honest. All it takes is for the front wheel to dig in and all of a sudden you’ve got a kart making its way headfirst off the trolley with you in tow 😂

I have recently purchased the One man trolley and so far happy with it. Yet to prove its durability.

One issue I had was putting it together the first time, was with the H section on top. Make sure to run the bolts that attach it through the treads. Those didn't seem to align well with the base and had trouble, almost cross treading them. It is a tight fit every time. May need to stretch it a little.

Did you get the Stone One Mna Lift Trolley? Sounds like you did. Only issue I had with mine over time it the bolts on the H section work loose? Solved that by drilling the thumb turn screws and cable tieing them to the H section. No issues here screwing them in though!

Yes It is Stone One Man trolley, and the bolts on the H section are loose, once undone. I nearly left mine behind once. :)
My real issue was the H section is a very tight fit and takes time to get it aligned to screw the bolts on. It does not feel they align well every time.

Has anyone else has any experience with the Stone One man trolley using a senior ProKart? I’m looking at getting one this year.
