Hello,

We have recently moved from hire karts to our own Micro Max. What would be really helpful are checklists of what you need to do before, during and after a session. Ie: What to check, tighten, fill, lube, clean, replace..

Don’t suppose anyone has seen versions of these? Perhaps by a chassis or engine company?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance,

F

Hi Freddie

Before you go to the track go through the kart from front to back checking each fixing, bolt & nut etc making sure they are corrctly tightened and replace any items that are not ok.

Lubricate moving parts such as stub axle, pedals, bearings (axle), steering etc but don't drown them.

Before going out check
Correct gearing
Make sure you have water in the radiator
Chain tension, should be approximately 8mm of play to allow the kart to ride bumps without stretching the chain to max tension and putting load on the crankshaft.
Lubricate chain with chain lube. Don't use too much as it can contaminate the clutch drum
Make sure wheel hubs and wheels are tight.
Make sure chainguard is tightened.

After being on track session
Take chainguard off and clean the excess chain lube off of surrounding area.
Check the kart again for correct tightness, make setup changes and re lube the chain.
Put chainguard back on.

End of day
Take clutch drum off and clean shoes and drum with brake cleaner to make sure no lube is in there
Take engine off and clean engine
Empty fuel from carb
Clean air filter
Empty radiator
Strip kart and clean
Use brake cleaner in spray to clean brake area and airline blow clean
Take axle out and clean bearings & axle etc
Put axle back in, align bearings, make sure it runs freely then put grub scres back in (use threadlock on one side of grub screws)
Strip front stub axles, clean and refit
Dust all (except brake area) with silicone spray and wipe clean to protect chassis from damp.
Put away

Hope this gives you a rough starting point.
