Motorsport UK has reinforced its commitment to making safety its number one priority during the COVID-19 pandemic, by introducing a further tier of reassurance for those exempt from quarantine measures under the UK government’s elite sport guidance and the wider community.
With immediate effect, participants returning from a non-exempt country are required to contact the NHS or an authorised laboratory to undergo a COVID-19 test. The test must be conducted no sooner than 48 hours nor later than 72 hours following their return to the UK and the result provided to Motorsport UK by email to exemptions@motorsportuk.org as soon as it is received, together with details of the training or competition that participants are intending to undertake within the 14-day period following their return.

This additional layer of protection is mandatory with immediate effect, and participation in an event or activity is contingent upon a negative test result.
In the event that an individual receives a positive test result, they must commit to providing information for contact tracing.

Thanks to improvements in both the availability and speed of COVID-19 testing through the NHS and recognised providers, this extra measure is not expected to cause any disruption to motorsport activities if participants plan and act accordingly.

Moreover, this step represents a minimum of inconvenience when viewed in the context of the exemption Motorsport UK has obtained from the DCMS (Department for Culture, Media and Sport) to enable our community to continue participating in the sport we all love during these unprecedented times.

Instructions for this procedure can be found here.
Let’s continue to enjoy motorsport safely.
