Hi everyone.

When should I get my new engine serviced, I got it back in December, and raced roughly 20 hrs.

Also when should you get everything else serviced professional?

Thanks on advance.

What kind of engine is it?

Chassis should be checked on a jig whenever you've had a slightly bigger than normal "off", or when it's not doing what you expect when you make a change. More so if you've got an OTK as they're made from cheese...

For a Rotax motor, the manual says something around 50 hours before a full rebuild, but if you're racing at the sharper end, you'll want it done well before then. We used to get the top end looked at around 15 hours after a full rebuild, then the motor looked at again 15 hours after that. We'd take the lead from the engine builder as to what needed doing and why. Used George Robinson at Robinson Sport as we found him to be straight talking and building a lot of the quick engines that were run by privateers in major championships....

Oh that's fantastic I'll get the engine serviced after next race then. I'll check out your man and see what he's says too.

I'd like the whole kart looked at to make sure it's all ok.

Best guys for a jig, straighten or repair are Dave Trueman or also Darren Jones at DRJ Motorsport Services. Both absolute wizards. Dave repaired a chassis for us that others had said was bored and it was better than when we bought it...

Thabks again you've been great, we are new to karting so finding our feet. What signs should we be looking out for with kart regards chassis damage, we have a 2021 espirit.

As it's an OTK variant, you'll see a few of those being sold as "having welds in the normal places". So you're looking for cracks around the bearing hanger, seat stays, front yokes and pretty much anything that's under strain.

Otherwise it'll be where the chassis has twisted, bent or gone out of true, which one of the guys above will be able to sort out for you.
