General Comer c50 Price

Your best bet for checking whether it was a C52 would be through Comer themselves. From what I understand any new motors are C52. They've also been designated as C50G in this country (G standing for Green).

The issue you might have with your motor is that if you want to race it in the UK, it has to be tagged. As you've bought it from abroad, I believe you won't be able to use it in MSUK governed events because Zip Kart do the tagging and log booking over here. You might be able to run it in IKR events though. You might want to touch base with Zip Kart to see if they can do it, although if you could, then I'd imagine everybody would be doing it.....
I'm not really interested in racing the engine in the UK as this is more of a practice engine for my 3 year old boy. Furthermore, I'm not located in the UK but in the South of France. We are planning at some point in the next years to come to the UK and race with kids his age but this is really just a training tool. I've tried to find a comer website or company information but I couldn't find anything. Would you know where I could check the serial number? On top of that I couldn't find anything on the web.

Thanks,

You'll also see as said that the UK importer for the C50/C50G is ZipKart:

And the importer of the Comer C50/C52 for France is OF COURSE Sarl:

Taken from Zip to backup what Lee is advising:

New Comer C50G 2-stroke Bambino engine To comply with Euro Environmental Regulations a new specification of engine will be available called C50Green (C50G) identified by green cylinder and crankcase seals and new parts in the Motorsport UK homologation fiche. The C50G package of cylinder, piston, crankshaft and exhaust can be fitted to existing C50 engines. All 4 C50G components must be used (except that C50G exhaust on its own can be used on C50 engine) and C50 crankcase must be fitted with a minimum of 1.00mm base gaskets. For C50G crankcase base gasket sizes are free. C50G engines identified by green seals cannot be fitted with C50 spec cylinder, piston, crankshaft and exhaust. The new C50G exhaust can be fitted to both C50 and C50G spec engines.

Thank you Adam, I saw the website and tried to call them but the phone number isn't working. I didn't know that top-kart was linked to comer (except the distribution rights). I will give it another try and let you guys know.

Thanks,

I just gave it another go.

So:

For comer top kart, the telephone number is not available and I haven't heard back from them. Still don't know if they only do distribution or also produce the engines.

I reached out to Of Course, the french distributor. Super nice and friendly. I was told Comer engines are not being produced anymore and that everything sold now comes from the producers/distributors remaining stocks. Apparently the company producing the engines has switched to producing engines for water toys/jet skis or something like that...

I'm not sure how accurate this is but I figured UK racers should know better as the entire bambino class is running these engines. BTW, if this is true, does anyone already know what the engine will be replaced with?

He wasn't helpful in identifying if my engine was a C50 or C52, but he told me that I shouldn't worry to much about it as there is literally no difference except for the extra 2CC and all parts are supposedly the same. Furthermore, mine just being a training engine, I don't need the extra power from the extra 2CC. Also, the engine is super robust so there shouldn't be any reliability increase between C50s and C52s.

About the serial number: it's basically just a stamp and there is no registry and no-one would be able to give me more information on my engine.
Comer themselves don't sell or communicate with individuals, only with professionals distributing their products.

About the green seals, I'm not sure this is only for the UK or for any engine in particular. I might give it a look in the future when doing my first maintenance.

Thanks you very much to everyone for helping me out. This forum is super useful for karting noobs just like me. Hopefully I'll be able to attend a UK bambino race with my son in the future!

The green tags (for the C52) are used in the UK in conjunction with a log book. The book/seal is to show that the engine is as it was supplied by Zip Kart. I.e. People haven't been swapping heads over etc. I probably shouldn't call it a seal as it doesn't really seal anything, allowing you to get in there and do the maintenance yourself if you feel confident.

Bambino is going to be a wobbly class for the next few years in the UK. With the C52 coming out (There's no replacement for displacement) and the confusion over that, along with some IAME Bambino engines going for equally silly money, it's a difficult time to be involved in the sport....
