The 2021 season calendar for Rotax, as part of the Motorsport UK British Kart Championships, has now been announced by both Motorsport UK, the official organisers, and official Rotax UK distributors, JAG Engineering.

This takes into account surveys carried out by all drivers, and also has considerations factored in, based on the current restrictions regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.

North Wales’ famed circuit Glan-Y-Gors will host the season opener in late April, with Mansell Raceway in Devon also making its return to the calendar after a year’s hiatus, just two months later.

Northamptonshire circuit Whilton Mill will pick up the action after the Summer break on the final weekend in August, three weeks ahead of the penultimate round of the season, with Warden Law hosting proceeding.

The fifth and final round will be held at the world-renowned and highly-coveted “Home of British Karting,” Paul Fletcher International, in the third weekend of October.

All rounds will be held over the course of a two-day weekend, with free practice on Fridays being subject to any COVID-19 restrictions being implemented

As per the 2020 season, drivers will be able to enter the Mini MAX, Junior Rotax, Senior Rotax and Rotax 177 class for the complete season, with Whilton Mill hosting a double-header.

Along with each weekend, JAG Engineering will be in attendance for every round this season, and can also confirm that the respective champions will represent Team UK at the prestigious Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals, at a date and location to be specified by BRP-Rotax in due course.

“We are delighted to announce the Rotax Championship calendar for 2021. We have worked closely with JAG and its stakeholders to create the new calendar and new formats, which are in line with the feedback we have received from the competitors and teams following the 2020 season,” stated Motorsport UK Kart Manager Dan Parker.

“The racing last year was as close as ever, with most of the championships going down to the wire at the last round, and we expect more of the same this season.

“With the ongoing COVID-19 situation, safety remains our number one priority. We are set to begin the new season after Easter, and we will continue to monitor the guidelines around the UK and we will continue to put appropriate measures in place at each venue we visit.”

“In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we at JAG are pleased to see that due diligence has been taken to arrange the calendar in the best way possible for everyone concerned in 2021,” explained JAG Engineering, the official UK Rotax distribtutor.

“Deciding the calendar for this year has not been taken lightly, and following constructive discussions with Motorsport UK we are set to start the season after the Easter Bank Holiday.

“When we do get back up and running again, we are looking forward to seeing both Mansell Raceway and GYG back on the calendar after a year’s hiatus, with some great racing in prospect.”

Entries for the 2021 are due to open in early February, and we will keep you updated as to when they officially open.
